Clamp On Ultrasonic Energy Meter ST501 PT100 Utilizing Transit Time Method for Accurate and Measurement of Liquid Flow Rates

ST501-PT100 Ultrasonic Energy Meter

Clamp-on type ultrasonic energy meters that use transit-time methods to measure flow.

Introduction

ST501 Ultrasonic Energy meter uses the most reliable digital signal processing technology, transmitting flow measurement for a wide range of liquid and pipe size with high accuracy and reliability. Combined the outstanding performance transducer with higher industrial level material, Flo-Instruments can have long time work without any worries.

Clear menu display selections make use of instruments very convenient. Clamp-on transducers makes the unit more flexible over a wide range of applications.

The ST501 ultrasonic Energy Meter is based on Transit-Time technology, which has high measurement accuracy. ST501 uses a clamp-on transducer, which can collect flow data simply by clamping it on the outside of the pipe, and it will never come into contact with the fluid, and will not cause liquid pollution, pressure reduction, leakage, etc.

Benefits

  • Measures the actual flow and total consumption ofvarious liquids
  • No loss of process control, optimization of assets and efficiency, no downtime or expense from calibration
  • Adaptive signal processing algorithms optimize performance, ensuring accurate measurements even in challenging flow conditions.
  • Clear display interface and LCD display with alarm function, easy to operate and debug
  • Utilize transit-time ultrasonic technology so as to realize bidirectional flow measurement by precisely measuring the time it takes for ultrasonic signals to travel upstream and downstream
  • Leverage the data logging capabilities to analyze historical flow patterns to make system optimization.
  • Built-in keypad and simple menu system for fast and easy programming of pipe diameter, pipe material, liquid type, and measurement units.

Principle

  • Introduction to TVT

TVT(Transit-Time Vortex) technology represents a cutting-edge approach to ultrasonic flow measurement, combining the principles of transit-time ultrasonics with the capability to harness the vortex shedding phenomenon, delivering unparalleled accuracy and versatility in ultrasonic flow meters. This innovative integration technology enhances the accuracy, versatility, and performance of ultrasonic flow meters, making them well-suited for a wide range of applications across various industries and is a valuable solution for industries requiring precise flow measurements in varying flow conditions.

The device has a pair (or more) of ultrasonic transducers installed on the exterior of the pipe (clamp-on) or inserted in-line. One transducer sends an ultrasonic pulse downstream with the flow, while the other sends it upstream, against the flow. Since the fluid's movement affects the transit time of the ultrasound, the time difference between the two signals is directly proportional to the flow velocity.

Installation Methods

The V method is considered as the standard method. It usually gives a more accurate reading and is used on pipe diameters ranging from 25mm to 400mm (1~16”)approximately. Also,it is convenient to use, but still requires proper installation of the transducer, contact on the pipe at the pipe's centerline and equal spacing on either side of the centerline. The signal transmitted in a Z method installation has less attenuation than a signal transmitted with the V method. This is because the Z method utilizes a directly transmitted (rather than reflected) signal which transverses the liquid only once.
The Z method is able to measure on pipe diameters ranging from 100mm to 3000mm(4”~120”).

With the N method, the sound waves traverse the fluid twice and bounce three times off the pipe walls. It is suitable for small pipe diameter measurement. The measurement accuracy can be improved by extending the transit distance with the N method
(uncommonly used).

As with the N method, the measurement accuracy can also be improved by extending the transit distance with the W method. The sound wave traverses the fluid four times and bounces four times off the pipe walls. It is suitable for very small pipe(diameters less than 50mm,2").
